Training for Sunday 4/19/09 (Post-op +17)

I'm recovering from hernia surgery that I had on April 2nd. The body is feeling strong. Dr. Scott down at Laughlin did a great job, bless her heart. The mesh she put in is surprisingly stronger than I thought it would be. I've been starting to push much harder in the last few days. I'll try to update with training I'm doing.

SESSION #1 (5:30 p.m.)

4 Mile Run on the treadmill (35 minutes) - all treadmill speed is at the beginning of the mile and all heart rates were taken at the end of the mile... % of Heart Rate Max are in ( )
1 @ 7.5 mph - 135 bpm (69% of HRMax)
2 @ 8.5 mph - 165 bpm (84% of HRMax)
3 @ 9.0 mph - 169 bpm (86% of HRMax)
4 @ 9.5 mph - 176 bpm (90% of HRMax)
- Followed the workout with stretching. One of the things that I've always lacked has been flexibility training. I'm going to try and reverse the trend and stretch after my training sessions.

SESSION #2 (9:30 p.m.)

5 Mile Run on the treadmill (43 minutes) - constant speed of 7.0 mph
End of Mile 1 - 135 bpm (69% of HRMax)
End of Mile 2 - 136 bpm (69% of HRMax)
End of Mile 3 - 143 bpm (73% of HRMax)
End of Mile 4 - 144 bpm (73% of HRMax)
End of Mile 5 - 146 bpm (74% of HRMax)
- Followed the workout with stretching and some light abdominal work to start strengthening the region from the hernia.
