So, I just finished Lance Armstrong's War: One Man's Battle Against Fate, Fame, Love, Death, Scandal, and a Few Other Rivals on the Road to the Tour de France. The book was awesome and about a hero of mine. It painted Lance in a much different light than his 2 autobiographies. The autobiographies have this hollywood, never-do-wrong image that they paint of him, but this book shows Lance as a human being. Nobody is perfect (present company excluded ahem...), and it was great to get into what goes on when dealing with the legend. This book showed me how real of a person Lance is and what kind of a competitor he is. Many people have said that he is too arrogant and they don't like him because he doesn't believe in God, but I feel that in order to achieve excellence in anything, you must have a strong foundation of self-belief. When you are competing, you need to know... to believe deep in your gut, that there is nobody better than you on the day. Without that belief, there is no way to consistently achieve excellence. Anyways, the book was very interesting and paints a very humanistic picture of the 7-time (hope he'll make it 8 this year) Tour de France champion and in my opinion was great... Very motivating indeed...
